Singapore Dance Awards Ms Aleena Tan/BDFI Spore Director confirmed that BDFI Singapore Members' chart-ratings will be revealed in the BDFI Singapore Dance Awards to be held on 22 Dec 02 at the Imperium Chinese Dinning in Ngee Ann City on 22 Dec 02. Top ranked competitors in each dance categories will receive awards and every member's ranking will be posted on notice boards in the restaurant. She actively encourages all members to attend/support this event by tucking into sumptious food servings and dancing till there is no tomorrow. |

of 3rd Malaysian International Championship and the 9th Penang International
Championships The long awaited photos for these two championships are on display in iShop now. Due to some sensitivity issues, no action shoots of standard competitors will be on sale. These photos are brought to you all the way from Penang for your purchase and enjoyment. Photos put up for sale in 2001 but not purchased will be systematically removed from iShop to make space for new crop of photos. Do look out for the next batch of action photos in January 2003 championship, email or talk to RpMerleon personally for more details. |

Malaysian International Championship and the 9th Penang International
Championships "Held on 30 Nov at the PISA (Penang's Indoor Stadium) and on 1 Dec at the Bayview Beach Resort, Batu Ferringhi Beach, successfully bringing a mini Blackpool to Penang. It was a treat itself to watch world - class competitors like Roberto Villa & Morenna Colagreco (Italy) who won the Professional Modern Open and second was Thomas Furmeyer & Tanja Beinhauer (Germany). In the Amateur Modern Open, Christopher Short & Yana Balabayeva (UK) took the top honours while second was Michael Olesen & Stine Catrine Dalsgaard (Denmark). The
Professional Latin Open saw Markus Homme & Charlotte Egstrang danced
into the hearts of an enthralling audience to emerge the champions and
second place went to Sergej Milicija & Iwona Golczak (Slovenia).
Robin Sewell & Elisabet Haraldsdottir (Iceland) was the Amateur
Latin Open Champion while the ten dance Michael Olesen & Stine Catrine
Dalsgaad took the second place." |

International DanceSport Championship 2002 Held on 24 Nov 02 at SUNTEC, the champions were : Renfred Ng & Elizabeth Quek in Juvenile Standard ( Under 12 - Upper Primary); Bassanello Enricol & Biolcati Federica (Italy) in Amateur Standard ( 4 dances); Lee Leong Kar & Christine Chang in IDSF Open Grade A category ( 5 dances); Gianfranco Galeone & Loredana Manigrasso (Italy) in the Professional Standard category. The Latin Formation by the Beijing Ballroom Dancing Academy was a heart-warming performance by the young and talented dancers. The evening highlight was the performance by Dimitriy Timokhin & Anna Bezikova, World Professional Latin Finalists and Russia Professional Latin Champion. Congratulations to Allan, Irene and Alice for a successful dancesport championship. |

2nd Ballroom Dynasty Ballroom is having an open night at its new 2nd Ballroom venue this coming Saturday, 23 Nov 02. All dance enthusiasts are invited to attend this opening FREE OF CHARGE located in 5 Marina Groove #01-03 & #02-01 (Previous Canto Pub). Party starts at 6pm and ends 10pm with FREE drinks and finger food. Those with invitation cards can exchange it for 6 complimentary entry coupons (to utilise by 6 Dec 02) to this new venue on that day. The new venue has a floor size of approximately a quarter of the current floor, plush seats, classy decoration and manned by a different crew. It is open for ballroom dancing 3 nights per week (Tue, Sat & Sun) and charges S$5 per entry. |

Masters Photographers Association Qualification Yesterday was a joyous day for RpMerleon as one of our principal photographers, Pele, has just gone through very strigent requirements to achieve the prestigious Licentiate of Masters Photographers Association. She is now a full fledged Master Photographer and can utilise the designatory letters LMPA after her name. The Masters Photographers Association (MPA) is United Kingdom's only fully qualified organisation for practising full time professional photographers. There are only about 30 photographers holding MPA qualifications in Singapore. Pele worked through meals, sleep (triple eye bags now) and dance practices to come up with a portfolio that represented her professional style (portraits, sport/dancesport, weddings, pets & babies/children). Well folks, you now truly have a Master Photographer in your midst so please do not hesitate to contact RpMerleon for your photographic needs. Photos Some of the photos for the 15th Singapore International Ballroom Dancing Championships have been uploaded onto iShop for your purchase and viewing pleasure. Do contact RpMerleon to view the full set of photo indexes in person. The special photo charges/gifts/discounts were only for those that ordered photos on the championship day itself, ie. 20 Oct 02 and have now ceased to be effective. For those who have purchased dancesport photos on 20 Oct 02, do remember that an authentic RpMerleon photo contains RpMerleon Logo, is printed with professional water-resistant resin coated ultrachrome inks on professional photo paper (0.27mm thickness) that lasts even longer than majority of the printing labs or any other printing media or portable printers in the world (40 to 60years non-fade as compared to 1 to 25 years), and lamination is totally unnecessary. Once again, a big thank you for all those who supported RpMerleon by purchasing photos shot & printed by us on 20 Oct 02. Lots of enquiries were received but we regret to inform that RpMerleon's services are not needed in the coming 7th Singapore Rising Star DanceSport Championships to be held on 3 Nov 02. RpMerleon is also unable to service the Merlion International DanceSport Championships to be held on 24 Nov 2002 due to a prior engagement. Shop Crowds Get A Taste of Pole Dancing BAR-TOP dancing might be taboo here, but another kind of dancing is heating up coffeeshops in the HDB heartlands - pole dancing. RpMerleon was privileged to view some of the costumes and true to it's reputation, the designs are dazzling and workmanship superb. Charging at such a low priced ticket for a dancesport fashion show that comes with dinner, show dances by top competitors and plenty of general dancing as a prelude to the 20 Oct 02 championship, it's a steal for competitors to attend. those intend on catching the FREE DanceSport Festival performances
in Singapore Changi Airport Terminal II at 6:30pm & 8:30pm tonight,
tomorrow or the next day, there is a slight change of performing dances.
David Brynes & Donna Juncken/Australia 10 Dance Champions are
repeating their latin dances instead of standard dances as they feel
it will be more suitable for a small dance floor. 
It
was HOT at Singapore Changi Airport Terminals I & II these few weekends
for it's the season to be jolly and participate in the Airport's DanceSport
Festival! Changi Airport is the only one in the world to be holding
a DanceSport Festival which is very well received by transit passengers
